A note from Kirsten: I have personally made this backpack, I have a small entry level machine and struggled going over all the layers near the straps. I suggest going slow, using a heavier needle 90/14 or greater, and ensure your fabric isn't scrunched up and is laying as flat as possible. If your machine has a height compensation tool, sometimes called a hump jumper, this would be a great use for it.
